





The English Department at UPH proudly presents the 7th TEFL Workshop this upcoming November 30, 2011 and this one-day-workshop shall equip educators, students, and English institutions with recent innovations in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). The event will be held in the B Building, the 6th floor, and there will be plenary and parallel sessions as well.

Two International speakers who will participate in the workshop by using “Skype” are:
Abby Kleier, M.A
Lecturer, Department of Global Studies, Sociology, and TESOL,
Azusa Pacific University, California
She will share about professional development options for TESOL instructors and explore how teachers in our context can engage the wider TESOL community with their insights and contributions to the field. One of the key innovations that she is focusing on here is the importance of non-inner circle practitioners in advancing their collective knowledge in the field.
Kitty B. Purgason, Ph.D.
Professor, Department of Applied Linguistics and TESOL,
Cook School of Intercultural Studies,
Biola University, California
Her presentation highlights four current trends in English language teaching: authentic listening, task-based learning, learner responsibility, and the lexical approach.
