NEW SUMMER INTENSIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT COLLEGE OF LAKE COUNTY

College of Lake County is pleased to announce the Summer Intensive English Language Program for F-1 international students! Introduced to accommodate students unable to study abroad for a long period of time, this is a great  experience for students who want to become proficient in English and already have  intermediate to advanced English skills.

The program  is June 4 - July 27, 2012 in which you will learn reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar skills. The cost for tuition and fees is only $1,980! Total financial proof must be $4,600  to cover tuition, fees, housing, transportation, food, personal supplies, books and medical insurance. We provide housing assistance and free airport pick up! We have  a state of the art language lab, writing center with one-on-one tutoring, small classroom environment and only 1 hour from Chicago - the 3rd largest city in the U.S.! THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY LAUNCHES MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM

The University of Kentucky Martin School of Public Policy and Administration is pleased to announce a new one-year intensive Master of Public Administration program. The MPA program  will prepare you for positions of leadership in the public or non-profit organizations.

You will get a strong education in the central knowledge and skill requirements in public policy and administration and a specialization in any one of a number  of designated areas: Budgeting and Financial Management, Non-Profit Management, Policy Analysis, Educational Policy, International Policy and Management, Transportation Systems Management, or Gerontology. Or, you could develop individually tailored areas of specialization.

DEVELOPMENTS IN ELECTRONIC RESIDENCY APPLICATION SERVICE FOR FOREIGN MEDICAL GRADUATES

The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is a world leader in promoting quality health care  — serving physicians, members of the medical education and regulatory communities, health care  consumers, and those researching issues in medical education and health workforce planning. ECFMG’s Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), a support service developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges (an ECFMG member), has recently undergone advancements to further assist medical school students and graduates in applying for residency positions in accredited U.S. graduate medical programs.

Among these developments, the number  of international medical schools using ERAS has grown, with 95 schools now submitting documents electronically on behalf of their students and graduates. The ERAS new Letter Writer Portal has also been introduced to aid international medical graduates applying for U.S. post graduate training, by allowing letters of recommendation to be requested through and later uploaded directly to ERAS; this feature has seen success in accelerating this part of applying to U.S. programs.

Also accessible through ERAS, on Thursday, February 9th, the National Resident Matching Program will be hosting an informational web conference on the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP). This is one of multiple new web conferences, meant for both international medical schools and their students, which will include complete information on the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) implemented for Match week  2012, as well as information and guidelines for letters of recommendation, and information on the AAMC’s new release date  for the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE). NORTHWESTERN MICHIGAN COLLEGE OFFERS NEW ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY DEGREE

Northwestern Michigan College will offer a new degree in Engineering Technology this fall, preparing students for well-paying technical careers in four sub-specialty fields.

The two-year  associate degree program  will offer all students a broad  base of science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses. Students would also choose one of four area of specialization: environmental testing technology, photonics (laser) technology, marine technology or electronics engineering technology.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, environmental testing offers the greatest job growth, projected at 30 percent by 2018. Photonics is projected to grow by 10 percent, and the other fields 5 percent each. Median salaries in Michigan and the U.S. are above $57,000.

BARD COLLEGE INTRODUCES NEW MBA IN SUSTAINABILITY

In response to the surge in demand for sustainable business strategies and practices, Bard College is introducing its new Master of Business Administration in Sustainability Program. Beginning in 2012, the two-year  program  is a partnership between the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College.

The program  will emphasize core business principles and sustainable business practices, while also focusing on economics, environment, and social equity. Through the MBA program, students will be challenged to integrate three  goals: profit, continuous reduction in ecological impact, and stakeholder engagement. Courses will be taught  by both Bard MBA faculty and guest lecturers, providing students and professionals with a substantial opportunity to engage with regional and national leaders and practioners in business sustainability.
